new subs

I'm trying to decide on two of the new 12 inch alpine type r or 2 15 inch ma audio 150qs I think what it is called.  Would the 15 inch be louder and have higher spl then the 12 inch since there are more cone area or what.  I'm asking couse I have no experence with these subs or the brands.  I'm gone build a vented box to there specs and I'm not worried about the size of the box.

You will get enough experience with these subs if you visit some of your local car audio shops and have a listen to the two brands.  While 15" subs will, if all else is equal, provide more sound with the same amount of power due to the larger cone area and possibly higher efficiency, they may not sound the way you want them to.  You will not know unless you listen for yourself.Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Just my 0.02, but IMO, the Type R's are much higher quality. They can get very loud and can sound very good if you do things properly.

now i'm looking at two type r or two 12 w7, let me know what yall know about them.

My question to you is what you want to do ? SPL or SQ ? Also, what are you planning to power them with as far as an amplifier ? If you decide on either a Type R or 12W7 your gonna need some serious power to move them as well as planning ahead and making sure that you get the proper ohms subs with the proper amplifier.Jeff

You do know that Type R's are $200 a piece and w7's are about $750 a piece, right? Those subs are on very different levels. A w7 would definitely out perform a Type R.

Well I missed my chance cause of my friend so now it is gone be the type r or maybe something else, but I'm going for spl.
