Hello to everyone on the forum...  I recently upgraded my head unit from a Sony CDX 620, to a Pioneer.   The problem that I'm having is that sometimes I lose my front left signal, front right signal, or sometimes both at the same time.  I didn't have this problem before when I had the Sony, so I'm thinking that it may be the H/U.

Can anyone give me some advice on trouble-shooting to find out what the culprit could be????

Thanks for any input/suggestions that anyone has...

THX AustinCustoms... I double checked my RCA connections and didn't find anything wrong.   The problem occurs problem after about 20-25 minutes after the music is playing.  At first, I thought my amp was getting hot, but it was cool...   I don't know what it could be.

You say you checked your rca's.  That means you're using an amplifier.  I'll bet you didn't set your gains again after installing the new deck, am I right?  If so, you need to do so.  Do a search in this forum (upper right of the screen) for gain setting.

I didn't think that you would have to adjust your gains when switching to a different H/U.  By no means am I disagreeing with you Geep, but one has got to ask WHY is it necessary to adjust the gains????  I'm a Noob, so don't flame on me too bad!!!!   Pioneer DEH-P860MP Issue -- posted image.

Head units have different pre amp voltage on there outputs. Sony has 4 volts ,if you have the premier i believe it has 6 volt pre outs. But i think geepherder has you on the right track.

Thanks guys!!  I'll readjust the gains and see if that clears up the problem.  Looking at the settings now, I have my front channel maxed out.  So I'll turn it down, and I'll repost the results...

Just an update:

I adjusted my gains and now they're set to the minimum setting, but for some odd reason, I'm still getting this wierd problem of my front speakers not playng intermittently.   Any more suggestions????????
