hey guys remember a couple days i was askin bout mtx,alpine type r's or, the kicker comp cvr

well yesterday i went and bout the type r's and built a sealed box to the specs of alpine and wired @ 1 ohm to my clif amp they were recieving about 400rms each alpine says 500 rms 1500peak the gain was set about 5 volts input well they were real clean sound but jus not enough thump u know so i took the chance today and put them in my ported box which is 1.4 cu ft per sub and tuned to 40hz alpine says the best would be 1.7 cu ft per and 33 hz tuned well i put it in my car and turned the gain all the way down and turned it on and DAMN these things hit twice as hard with the gain all the way down the 5 volts is bout 1/4 of the way up these things sound so clean and thier really tight no echoeness jus when it hits they hit so i want to say thanx for all the input guys i cant wait for them to be broke in i love these subs any1 out want some good subs between 150 and 250 each get the type r's and put them in a slot ported box cause they are just really good make sure u got the wattage cause thier hungry for it to

I can't believe I read through  your entire post when you didn't put breaks into anywhere.

I'd like to see you put some effort into learning how to set the gain.  You've seen info on gain setting on this forum and know how to search for it.  Set it right and quit guessing.  Anyone who uses terms like "1/4 up" or similar phrasing are just guessing.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

well its starts at .2v then every mm there's another # all the way to 8v well there's one at 5v too so i wasnt guessing but i dont do breaks and all that mombo jumbo cause im a slow typer and ya'll know what im talking bout but neways ill make i do more post for u stedart

well its starts at .2v then every mm there's another # all the way to 8v well there's one at 5v too so i wasnt guessing but i dont do breaks and all that mombo jumbo cause im a slow typer and ya'll know what im talking bout but neways ill make i do more post for u stedart

Jayson, the point that Steve was getting across is that those numbers on the side of the amp are not necessarily accurate.  You don't know that the preout voltage ratings are accurate either, so it is just a guess.  Setting the gain correctly can be found here by using the search function as recommended above.
