Did this unit come with an external DC/DC converter? I found one of these in a junk yard and it had everything but it looks like the DC/DC box was chopped off.  Is there a quick fix or sumthing I can do with it?

I don't think it's an outboard DC/DC converter, this deck had 2 volt outputs and the outboard converter was only on the 4 volt decks. If the deck still has a serial number on it Alpine will service it for you.
There is no such thing as free installation!
