I have done a few searches on here but i didnt find what i was looking for. I just hooked up 3 10 inch comp vr's to my 1000 watt rms mrd-m1005, they are running at 2 ohms. i see kicker says that turning on a subsonic filter will greatly increase the power handleing of the subs, so im just wondering how it works. the settings on the amp are either 15 hz, or 30 hz. say i have it on 15, does that mean anything 15 and lower will not be played? i just dont really know how the filter works thats all, and the lowest these 10's will hit is 25 hz. thanks alot guys.

If you have the 10s in a ported box, the filter may keep them from having problems with over excursion. I don't know if performance will be much of a problem, especially in a sealed box. Those tones are too low to hear and if the music you are playing doesn't contain tones that low, the filter won't be filtering out much anyway. Of course, turning the filter on won't hurt anything...you could turn it on to 15, play it a while, then turn it to 30 and see if you can tell any difference. Let that be your guide. I would just advise turning it on if your box is ported if there is no difference between settings.

Just so you know alpine_king, three dvc subs wired as 2 ohms each will present a 1.3 ohm load to the amp when wired in parallel. Your amp is rated to 2 ohms so you are damaging it by doing this. If you wire each dvc sub as 8 ohms (coils in series) the amp will see a 2.6 ohm load. This will reduce the power that the subs will recieve, but you won't be pushing the amp past its limitations. Back to your original question, even though the subs are in a sealed box, im virtually certain that you won't be able to hear the difference between turning the filter to 30hz (the safer option), or not using it at all so you may as well do it.
