Vehicle - 1993 Lincoln Continental Executive series with the Preimum Sound System.
Problem - Head Unit works, no sound...
* I do know that I will have to install a Amp By-Pass Kit *
I purchased this car with the stereo harness clipped. So I gathered the wiring diagram from this site, and went to work.
- Head Unit Works w/o sound.
- Power Antennae works
- Memory not connected properly...
- Several wires from the car that I have no clue on. One wire that I'm confused on is a Gray Connector (see pic below)?
- No speaker wires! Should I run RCA cables from the Amp to the Head Unit? I have some extras...

Yes, that could be the reason why there is no sound.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

newbie here... but my best guess is that model came with the factory jbl system. I would check the wires you have to make sure there are what the list says they are. (Constant, switched, ground) and then search for the amp. Then you have to find the outputs on the amp cut  and pop them to see which speakers are which then you need to run wires back to the stereo side of the harness. That gray plug is probley signal wire to the amp. I would put in a reverse harness aswel. hope that helps. pretty basic stuff tho

this is just my opinion.

a bypass would be good if your just replacing the head unit. but if your planning on running any other equipement (ie amps, eq, crossovers etc) i would run all new wiring for the sytem. you never know what your gonna get into and if you run all new wire you know what is what and know what is actually in the sytems circuit. some people get it to work with the factory wiring but have problems with factory x-overs and amps that they didn't even know where there. and then you find yourself trouble shooting for hours on end wishing you did it in the first place. if you want to tap into the factory components you might want to take it to a pro installer if your not one. another problem you might run into is this.  your purchased it used and clipped off.,but you actually don't know if the factory components are still there or in working order.

my advice-start new ;)

@stevdart, i'm not retarded, I know why there's no sound.
@sin0cide, I will definitely take the advice you've given. A reverse harness is that aka by-pass module?
@druidpagen, once I decide on what I'd like to do I would like to take that route. As of right now, I just want to drive listening to music rather than silence.

First things first... locating the OEM AMP. Does anyone have input on this? Could I run RCA cables from the AMP to H/U? Or should I just run new speaker wires?

Located the OEM AMP (drivers side wheel well) I dont see any RCA inputs on it. Looking at the Rear Speakers, I cannot find them on the other side of the car (harness..) Thinking of running new wires, but came across a problem. I can't get to the front speakers. I've pulled & pushed on the panel no luck. So until I get that off, I guess I should keep looking for those wires wherever they are!

First off, no matter how much you look you will NEVER find rca's at the OEM amp. That gray plug at the dash is the input to the factory amp. You can use an intergration harness if you just want sound. However, if you wish to bypass it, or it doesn't work you will need to.

The "bypass" which is aka "ford amp eliminator harness" will work however if the gray plug is cut at the dash you can use one side of the bypass harness to grab all the speaker wires. Power, constant and ground will be at the dash already.

One of the eliminator plugs will have a small end and a larger end. Cut the small end off, splice 4 speakers wires to it, and run it to the dash. If you plan on adding an aftermarket amp then you will run rca's to the back.

Hope I helped clear this up for you.

Good info master5.
So if i'm understanding your correctly I need to purchase a bypass cable, and splice the ends of that harness to the gray connector once it's spliced as well?
I hope I understood you!
