hey guys. im pretty new to car audio but right now i have 3 of the lower end pioneer premier 12's in a ported box running of a hifonics bx1505d at 2.7 ohms.  sq sucks, but they are pretty loud. definately the loudest ive heard in person, but i havent heard too many top notch systems so thats not really saying much. but i got a new job recently. its at best buy, so im limited on selection, but i can get type r 12's for $100 a pop with my discount. i dont like the three subs because the box i built takes up my ENTIRE trunk and doesnt give me a lot of room to make my trunk nice n purty. im thinking about going with 2 of the type r's in a ported box because i think they might be a little better sub and i can free up some more room to build a more "aesthetically pleasing" trunk. with the 2 12's i would be able to run the amp at 1 ohm, giving me more power. but i dont really want to lose output. so of these options, which would you choose and why?

1)keep it like it is, its already loud

2) ditch one of the premiers and just run 2 of them

3) spend the $200, get two type r's

thanks for everybody's input. it is much appreciated

a ported box may take up a lot of extra space so you may want to look into that more...as far as subs go i would definitly go with the type r's. a freind of mine had those and they hit pretty hard and they dont sound bad either

Hell me and my friend didn't feel like buying a prefab and he wanted a box fast so be just went to the store and took all the measurements of the prefab box and built one to the exact spec lol...actually sounded pretty decent and hit pretty low...in Akon's song Soul Survivor the low bass beat was making a water bottle bounce in the front cup holder

go with the type Rs since you can get them so cheap and see if you can get some of Alpines PDX series amps...heard they are some of the best out right now...thats just if they can get them for the right price i know my discount on alpine kinda sux.

Whats best is what is best to the person buying it...everyone has there own opinions on whats best.
But I will agree that the new PDX amps are very nice...ice power baby.
Eclipse also utilizes this and as does some of the Pioneer Premier amps
