Hey everyone im new here and i have a problem. I have hooked up many systems in my day but this one i was working on yesterday stumped me. The car is a 2006 cobalt I am trying to install a single 10" woofer runnning at 2 ohms on the stock headunit. I hooked everything up including the line output converter, tested the system and i had no signal to the sub. So, in an attempt to find the problem i pulled the rca cables and ran them to a buddys car we pluged them into his aftermarket headunit., and had the still in and powered by the cobalt. It worked on the first try. based upon this it was my determination that the LOC was the problem. So, I pulled it checked all the connections, put it back in, and nothing.  The way i have it hooked up is the left ( -) to the left rear speaker (-) cable and left (+) to  left rear speaker (+) and the right (-) to right rear (-) and right (+) to right rear (+). Im about at my wits end with this LOC im about to tear it out again and wire in one of my aftermarket headunits if none of u guys can give any help.

Thanks

Joe

Do the speakers in the car play from the HU or is the fade control set to the front?  Does the LOC have level controls on it?  How are they set?  Are you certain the LOC works?

I 2 have the same problem... I am a mecp certified and i have been installing for a good time now... but my 2006 cobalt is doing the same thing to me... except i have the rear speakers amped through a LOC and it sounds good, but the front sound really bad... and these are Alpine Type X speakers hooked up to a Alpine Vpower amp 75x4 RMS. I have worked on this for weeks and just cant get them to work... I also feel my only hope is to rip the factory deck out... but i have heard installing a head unit in these cars is next to imposibile... hopfully some one will read this and help me out... cause im loosing my mind... great speakers, bad sound...

i have never had a problem with a high to low level converter in one of these cars. i never pull speaker wires from both sides. i twist both + and both -'s together and hook to the right speaker wires. i do this because i only use a converter for people who want subs if they want all speakers amped i sell them a headunit.

i recently had a problem with a 02 sunfire (same type of system) with a metra "ART" where it uses power, ground, and +speaker wire and makes a remote lead. but it happened to be a shorted coil in the rear speaker.

these cars are very easy to put in a aftermarket headunit if u dont care about loosing the door dinger.  if u want to keep it $50 for the harness alone.

stephen ; what problem are u having?  i am not here alot mostly termpro or u can email me at SPLaudio78@hotmail.com...Corey

Where are you guys grabbing your speaker wires at. When I did this car(with no problem) I grabbed them from behind the glovebox. They are right there in there own loom/tape with no other wires.
