so i am considering wiring a computer up in my car rather than my head unit i have 2 niceish cd players so if end result is to just use one then i can but i was hoping to go without it because i want to put a dvd drive and usb ports in the dash a 7 in lcd moniter on the dash and then hide an enclosed motherboard with sound card hard drive and memory etc.. else where in the car but i have a couple problems currently i have a 1998 eclipse with a rockford 240.4 amp for mids and highs and then 2 15 inch rockfords powered buy an 1000a2 amp it was installed with a second battery and a cap (stereo was in car when i bought it and it works so i haven't inspected it to much)first problem would be with all of this on there would i need a third battery to have a 300watt transistor always running when car is on (i have access to a third stinger battery but not sure if amp can take all that since it is only stock...)

but then my biggest question is how would i wire it to stereo instead of using as an aux on radio (i realize i may not be able to get an fm tuner out of it) but i was thinking by a 6 channel sound card and wire it up just like a radio into the amps but i don't want to lose any sound quality or power some people said i would need to run it to an equalizer then to speakers but wouldn't running it to the amps do the same thing.  Also my kenwood is a 5v preout and a computer sound card doesn't even have a rating like that so i don't know how well sound would come out.

Thanks in advance for help any suggestions or solutions are greatly greatly appreciated.

you can do that.  What i recommand is to get a 5.1 dolby digital processor from a company like alpine or something then run the fiber optical output from either your sound card or get a USB to optical out adaptar into the processor which from there you can hook up your amps to get a true 5.1 surround sound.  Also be sure you get a LCD monitor and use either a VGA connection to it.  IF not the picture quilaty suxs.  They have touch screen monitors that work nice also.  Here at my shop we sell both the computers and the monitors and they are pretty popular
Where theres is a wire there's a way.

do you know of any digital processors that would be cheaper and as good/or close to the quality of alpine (i don' t need 5.1 but just normal 4 speaker and sub setup? (the 500$ alpine is kinda a bank breaker but if it is the only one that can keep quality then not much i can do)

Thanks again
