Hey guys, I'm about to embark on my car project number 2... A subaru impreza wrx. I need something a little more practical and affordable than my truck's monster system. I know the W7 is the mayor of Subwoofer-ville. How well does the 8 inch perform? Should I just go to the 10 inch model?   Let me know your opinions please!

I have never heard the 8" version. would be interesting!
are you wanting to put the driver you choose in a box?
JL is releasing a few small infinite-baffle type woofers soon

Yes, it would be in a box. But this infinite baffle woofer sounds interesting. The subaru wrx is one of the two cars I'm looking into buying. The Civic SI is the other... Replacing the stock 8inch woofer with a JL infinite baffle setup sounds appealing...

...but the Si's are very nice, too.  not turbo :(,  but impressive all the same- i got to rip my friend's 06/07 (? whatever the new style) for a day, didn't want to give it back!!!  smoother ride than the wrx- i feel old, i want some comfort.

OFF TOPIC:
Having owned both Hondas AND Subarus, I can tell you, with NO reservations, buy the Honda... Ths Subaru will go faster, sure, but the Honda is significantly more refined, and will last a hell of a lot longer!
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
