Hey everyone, I was just wondering how people on here would recommend I get 12 gauge speaker wire to the factory front door speaker location. I know this car has a molex which complicates things so I need someone expert help. Will the 12 gauge fit in the molex? Is there a way to do it whithout having to mess with the molex? Thank you so much

You will not get any performance benifits using 12 awg speaker wire over 18 awg.  So I recommend using the smaller stuff as it is much easier to install.

My 94 Honda has Molex plugs as well. I used a large pick tool to unclip the molex connectors and then drill an appropriate hole for the wiring. I used a snake (large zip tie) to feed the wire through the grommet.

There is a sticky at the top of the page on wiring through Molex.

Dwarren, did you actually wire through the molex or did you drill a hole around it or something? It is hard to tell from your post. I am concerned that the 12 gauge wont fit inside the slots in the molex if I have to do it as the sticky on this site shows. or is their away around the molex?

I used the molex, but I had some room due to my car not having a power windows and locks (wires were non existant). I just bored out an area on each side of the molex plugs(car side and door side) and pushed my wire through. I have done this on other vehicles as well.

Ok now that makes sense. Do you think there was enough room should you of needed to push a 12 gauge wire through the molex on your honda? Thank you so much for your responses

I did. I ran 12 gauge wire through my molex. But like i said there was more space than usual. But none the less it is very do-able. Those pictures in the how-to post seem accurate.

I appreciate Steven Kephardt's advice and I know he was trying to help me but I don't put a new system everyday so I just want to do it right. Even if the 12 gauge will help just a little bit than I want it. Thanks again to everyone.
