I have a 2002 Grand am GT1 that came stock with the Monsoon stereo system. The Monsoon speakers in the car are 2ohm speakers but since the they sound like they are blown i want to replace them. I have been looking at the infinity kappa 6x9s and 4x6s which are both 2ohm speakers to replace my stock speakers. The problem is I have replaced the monsoon headunit with an alpine 9835 and i am not sure if this aftermarket headunit will work and sound great with all my speakers being at 2 ohm. I am looking for SQ and SPL.
Will this be a problem? Will my HU fry or will the speakers blow or sound distorted because of ohm loads or power difference?
Am I better off buying all new 4ohm speakers instead of 2ohm?
Any help or advice is welcome. Thanks

Even though the infinity's say they are 2 ohms they actually measure about 2.3-2.6 on a meter at the speaker and once you install them in a car they go up to about 3.2-3.6 so. They should be safe on the headunit amp and in fact infinity has released literature on this same subject a   few months ago when the speakers first came out. hope this helps a little.

if you are seriously looking for SQ and SPL you should be powering all your speakers via external amplifiers.
