Need a little more info. What hu do you have? What are you trying to accomplish? Most aftermarket hu's have a remote wire on them. If it is a factory hu, it might not have one.

First off the remote wire is not needed if you are jsut using the hu. The purpose of the remote wire is to turn on an amp or other accessories. As stated above most factory hu's don't have one unless there is a factory amp.

If the factory hu doesn't have one you can tap in to the accesseory wire.

So in most after market hu a remote wire comes and I just hook that up to the amp and connect the wiring harness, and in a factory hu if theres no remote wire i just tap into a accessory wire?.... One last question..what does it mean to tap into another wire and is there an accessory wire on all factory hu's?

The accessory wire is the Switched 12 volt wire.  This wire is the one that gets 12 volts on it when the key is turned to the on or accessory position.  And no not all vehicles have an accessory wire.  If the car is a pre 2003 model then yes it will have an accessory wire.  2003 and later there is a chance it will not have such wire.  When you figure out what kind of car this amp is going into, let us know and we can tell you where to connect the remote wire.  If it is a common vehicle, I am sure they can tell you what color the wire is and exactly where to access it.

A 2005 Chevy cobalt do i tap the remote wire into the Factory Amp Turn-on because in the wiring diagram their is neither a accessory wire nor a switched 12v wire.
