Hello i had a couple questions on installing a new amp and sub. Right now i Have a soild audio ms26 800 watt amp pushing 2 8" mtx's in a truck box. i want to replace them with a kicker zx400.1 mono channel amp pushing 1 of the new kicker comp vt (shallow mount sub). I reall don't know much of anything when it comes to car audio but i wanted to know if that sub, amp combo was good. I also wanted to know when im replacing the amp, can i just pull the cords outta the old amp and replace them the same way into the new amp. and run the same cord that was running into the 8's to the new 12". I dont know any thing about ohms but i was told to wire it this this https://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=1&I=42 option 1.  Any help would be great. thanks.

Use the 2 ohm wiring diagram for your dual voice coil 4 ohm sub as was suggested.  Your Kicker amp will output into a 2 ohm load, and you can find the output watts rating in the literature.  You should be able to simply unplug the old amp and plug into the new one.  Same thing with speaker output wiring.  Check to be sure your power wire and fuse are adequate for the new amplifier.  You should have at least 8 gauge or preferably 4 ga. running to the amp with the appropriate fuse near the battery.  Fusing requirements can be found using https://www.the12volt.com/info/recwirsz.asp  Ground wire from amp to chassis floor pan must be at least as large as the power wire.

For good info on ohms and how all this stuff works, read http://www.bcae1.com

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

I don't know.  At first I thought this was a dual voice coil sub by the diagram you included as part of your post, but when I looked it up on the website it looks like it comes as either a single 4 or single 2.  You want a final impedance of 2 ohms.  The ZX400 amp puts out 400 watts into 2 ohms and that is what this sub is rated for.  If this is a SVC sub, choose the 2 ohm version.

You already know to get the 2ohm sub.

theduckslayer87, why did you choose the CVT anyways? Is space an issue here?

I have one of those subs on display where I work and it sounds pretty good as far as the shallow mounts go. (better than the bluedot sitting next to it at least). The ten gauge wire has to go though. Check out the wiring guide link that was already suggested to you, and when you buy the new wire, make sure you don't get 8 gauge shielding around 10 gauge wire. stick with monster cable or another well known ( for wire ) company and you will be all right.
