HI all

I've got 2x 12 earthquake subs, rated at 400w RMS, and i've got an earthquake amp rated at 1x 400w rms or 2x 300w rms. its a 2 channel amp. What is the best way for me to wire the subs, to get the most out of the amp? Or to get the loudest and deepest bass out of it.

Thanks

Need to know more about the subs and amp, model numbers or more specs?

Amp: Earthquake T1000/2; Max Power output: 1000w; rms power 4ohm bridged: 1x 400w; rms power 2ohm stereo:2x 300w; Class A/B;

Subs: Earthquake DB-12 Street Pro; 1000w Max; freq response = 25hz - 1.1k, sen = 89db.

All specs are from the website. I have sealed box, prefabricated.  Whats the best way to go

This isnt the ideal way, but with what you have to work with it's all I know to recommend. Reason is because your amp is only stabe at 4 ohms when bridged, and to get the most out of the subs you have, you need an amp that is stable at 2 ohms, then you could wire them in parallel.

Thanks!

The way i currently got it set up is  each sub on its own channel. Which does sound good, but if i can get more out of my subs why not? So would you recommend i leave it at that or try the above mentioned by connecting it in series?

I haven't done a spl, and i'm real curious to see. but i'm also scared i'm gona be disappointed. With you knowledge and experience. What do you think a SPL reading will look like.

Ok I looked up that amp and see that the way you have it hooked up right now you are at 200 watts X 2 @ 4 ohms, which is the most you are going to get out of that amp so you're wiring is good. As far as SPL numbers, I would have no idea actually, I've never seen a car tested so I have nothing for comparison.

So basicly, thats the best i'll get out of it. but when its bridge to 1 channel it will be 400w at 4ohm stable right? now if i connect the subs in series it suppose to have a resistance of 8ohms right. that 400w split between the two subs will that make any difference to way its connected now?

Also when bridging it, and connecting the subs in series will that make the amp run hotter?

1. That's the best that can happen.
2. No, no difference at all.
C. No, because it's the same effective load, it'll be the same dissipation.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
