I just grabbed a thrash around dialy driver with a bi-fuel conversion done for commuting cheap.

I have some cash in spare alongwith some stuff lying around so Im going to put a little sound setup in that.

I got an amplifier giving out around 270watt x1 @ 4ohm (bridged). I went out and checked whats available here to rig up on this amplifier.

I found the following ... Alpine Type S 12" ... Kicker CompVR 12" and RF Punch Stage2 12".  Im gona make a ported box with a deep bass bias (as big as possible in the recommendation).

Got to chose between these three. It wont be much of a hot setup ... with entry level components running temporarily off the a pre and later on a little amplifier (An Alpine CDE-9846E).

Which subwoofer would you suggest ? The CompVR is really gona strain my budget though ... so if you guys think the Alpine is good ... id personally prefer that.

P.S. Sorry for any grammar .... English aint my first language.

The Alpine is a decent sub.

Sir, would you prefer it over the Rockford and how would you compare it with a Kicker CVR.

... just got a call from my friends shop ... JL Audio W1v2 13" will be available.

So with that also in the list ... should I consider it too ?

Yes, I would choose the Alpine over the RF.  The Kicker will probably be loudest of the three, but IMO the Alpine would sound the best.  Now tossing a JL W1 into the mix makes things a bit harder as it also sounds pretty good, but I'd probably still use the Alpine since it can handle more power.  If you can listen to them and choose the one you think sounds best, that is always the preferred way to choose speakers.

Im after the lows ... and the W1v2 13" can handle the lows much much better than the Alpine atleast what I can figure according to the ratings. For the W1 ... Fs is 20Hz ... and even the recommended box is to be tuned at 26Hz.

Plus, the Qts rating makes the W1v2 the best candidate for vent enclosure.

As for power ... my amplifier really isnt that good either. I doubt it can really put out 270watt RMS even though thats the rating.

Yes I can listen to them all at once. But not on my amplifier ... ill ask them to use something with similar specs.

that amp will do fine...since you have limited power you can make the big a little bigger for a little better efficiency
