2003 nissan maxima, remove radio

does anyone know of a simple way to remove the top air vent to remove the factory radio?  i tried pulling on one side at a time using a hook tool.  any advice or sugestions would be much appreciated

Hope this helps if you pull on the vents hard enough it will release the spring steel tabs.

i dont know whats going on with this.  i fully understand how to remove it but the son of a gun isnt coming out.  i just ordered a longer hook tool so we will see what happens when a get it.  thanks for the help.  if you have any other suggestions i'm all ears.
