best amp, speaker wire

i have my car wired in 12 guage stinger  speaker wire and for my power ground i have stinger hpm 0/4 guage. i head this is a good brand wire but i havent had any problems with it so far. what are any better brands than this. input would be great.1993 sdv

Wire is wire.  It doesn't matter what brand you use.Support the12volt.com

The more money you pay generally the more flexable the wire is, and with that stinger stuff you have is right on the boarder of perfect and going too far. as long as you have the correct gauge wire for the load, it should be fine. The more flexible the wire just makes it easier to run around the inside of the vehicle. 12 awg is about the biggest speaker wire thickness you can get and as long as the distance between amp and speaker isnt that far it would be sufficient. I have seen people use power cable of 10 awg for speakers but that is kinda overkill.

12 awg is actually overkill as well.  16 awg is sufficient for even kilowatt subwoofer installs.  But then if the terminals are visible, large awg wire sure does look impressive.

True but I learned with rca with 12 volt dvd player cheap brand rca wire you can the difference and in audio rca they seem to short out quicker and sometimes one channel on them goes out.. Also I heard they also bring engine noise from cheap wiring and shielded wiring so what are your thoughts everyone1993 sdv

Why would you think any set of speaker wire or RCA's would short out faster than another? If two wires touch, it doesn't matter their awg or quality. They will still be shorted out.

The forum was just about speaker wire but I thought to add rca to see what everyone thought. Its just in the times when I did install when I used cheap rcas I got engine noise and one channel on them wouldn't work after a extended period of time all. I just wanted to know and have whoever was reading this forums give the same input since they are giving good anwsers1993 sdv

At the shop I work at we quote amplifier installs along with all the wiring included in the price.  This price includes really cheap RCA's, which we give the customer the option to upgrade if they choose.  99% of our installs use cheap RCA's and we rarely run into noise issues, and I've only once ran into a set that was bad.  Noise is almost always caused by poor installation techniques.  On rare occations there are other causes.  One day last week we had two of our installs come back with noise issues, both being Diesel trucks oddly enough.  The first happened to have noise only in the rear channel of his customer supplied used amp.  It turned out to be bad equipment which I then found out the customer already had to sent back to the manufacturer to get serviced once.  The second was caused from a problem with the vehicles electrical system.  One of the electrical components in the ignition circuit must be going out, causing noise in the system which the head unit picked up.  But I've never seen RCA's pick up noise that wasn't install related.

things that will create noise: 1. running RCA along side power wire 2. bad grounding techniques and ground loops 3. not planning out install to go around places that might induce noise
