I am wondering if I can use my MP3 Player (Rio Nitrus) wired through the earphone jack to an amp (via rca plugs) for my boat instead of buying a stereo with cassette?

Is the output of the MP3 proper as input to a car amp?

Can the audio control of the MP3 properly modulate the volume through an amp?

Thanks.

Jeff

Yes. Just have to wire the turn on lead through a toggle switch.

yeah sure why not?*shrugs* Just watch out for earth noise, you  may need to run a filter, also careful with the volume on the hp output as it is actually higher then line level so listen carefully, turn your amp down real low so there is definetly no amp or speaker distortion and then wind up the volume on the MP3 player when you hear ditorion, back it of a decent amount cos you gotta remember that the human ear doesn't hear distortion until it's at least 10% so you even though you don't hear distortion it may still be present, hence forth causing damage to the pre-amp stage of you amplifier.

btw auex, I like you auto signature, wise point that probably a lot people dont take notice of and just jump sttraight in without the meter and hope for the best!
