I just pulled a radio out of my boat; IT's a tapedeck/fm radio
It is a maxxima by panor marine stereo with remote i
there is a enclosure in side the boat with a female connector; the connector looks like this:
xxxxx|xxxxx
xxxxx|xxxxx
I'm looking to replace this radio with a cd player; are there any direct replacements that will use the same dongle (and hopefully let the dash remote keep working)
Thanks!!!!

Boat radios are just like car radios. The only difference is that they do a little extra to waterproof it. The short answer is, really the only radio that is going to work is a direct replacement. My advice is to dump the pos maxxima and get something better. JVC has been making pretty decent marine units for a number of years, and many other mainline manufacturers are starting to as well. The maxximas are poorley built and WAY over priced. I can't tell you how many we replaced when I used to work my old job in the marine industry.

The dash remote might be a nice conveniance, but at what price do you want to keep it?  If you really do, I would say to grab the deck and head to your nearest marina...chances are they might have maxximas in stock, but if not will most likely have a catalog or a distributor that they can order them through.
