I'm having some trouble in my 94 ford explorer. The remote start works. The truck starts up, but it will shut off after 5 seconds. Then it will start again, shut off after 5 seconds, then start up, then shut down again.
I believe it has something to do with my tach signal. The starter says it needs minimum 1.8V AC at idle, but i measured the voltage from the tach terminal and it only has 0.5V AC at idle.
Is there another terminal I can hook the tach signal wire up to?

It sounds as if you are on the right track in diagnosing your problem. The remote start (you should mention the make and model of your system) does not know that the vehicle started successfully so it is shutting down and restarting. I would have to think that you tagged the incorrect tachometer reference wire, the easiest thing to do would be to move the tach wire to a fuel injector and program your system. The wires at the injectors will have a common wire color at each and an odd color at each, you want to connect to one of the odd colored wires.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

the model of the system is the ProStart CT-3310 from canadian tire.
I'll try the fuel injector setup. Thanks!
