Do any of you good peole know if the igition key for a 2006 Saturn Ion has a chip in it.  I need to get a couple extras made for safe keeping.  The car has no loaded extras on it, Remote entry, etc!    Many thanks in advance.

No chip.
The car does have GM's Passlock anti-theft system, which is part of the ignition switch.
If you were to install a remote starter, you would need to interface with the Passlock system, to turn it off during remote start. (There are various ways to do this.)
However, the keys are nothing special, and should be inexpensive at any locksmith or hardware store.
