I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix. Previous owner installed an Audiovox APS996A remote start system. It's been working fine up until about two weeks ago. the lock/unlock/trunk pop functions just fine, but the remote start does not work. when i push the button on the remote to engage the remote start, it beeps/vibes like it sent the signal, but the car doesnt respond. no flashing of lights, no chirp, nothing. i'm pretty green when it comes to troubleshooting remote starters, though i do know some automotive stuff. any suggestions? ---yes i checked the manual disable switch, it's fine. no, its not in valet mode either.

help?

That was my first guess, was to make sure the control switch is on.

Also, that switch is fragile. If you can get to the backside of it, see that the wires haven't broken off.

Was a hood pin switch installed? If so, go under the hood and unplug the wire from the switch, and see what that does.

I'll double check for a hood pin switch, but i dont recall seeing one.

if the switch is there and bad, or the wires broken on the override switch, would the car not respond at all, or would it flash the lights or something?
