has anyone done a remote start on this car that can offer me some pointers? my audiovox tech program says that the factory security is RF controlled, so can you do a remote start on this car without the factory alarm going off when you start it? thanks

I've done 2 of them. Car starts fine , don't worry so much of factory alarm it will disarm as soon as it sees ignition. or follow instruction below, Also you will have to go to battery for 12volts, do not use the wire at the ignition, it has a very low current. One more thing you should know both car I did the airbag light went on, I tried to find out what the problem was, all my connections were fine, I have heard that you have to power the Second ignition as a Key sense wire (remember is a positive) not as ignition meaning it has to see this wire on before it sees ignition, use one of the wires you will be using for your transponder bypass. One more thing the wires at the ignition are very small gauge. I really think this car is a pain in the **s, it is already in my list, I won't do any more New Volvos, but good luck.

P.S. the trnsponder in the key is very sensitive, make sure you mount it prperlly, or you will hear from custumer that the car only starts with remote after car has been running for a while. Letme know how it works for you.

Notes:

NOTE:  This vehicle has an immobilizer system that needs to be bypassed when adding remote start.  Use DEI part number 555U.  *1 Use any of the following;  blue, brown, yellow, pink, purple, or gray.  *2 These are the drivers door key cylinder wires, meter by turning the key in the door. Unlock requires a double pulse.  *3 A single pulse on the unlock wire will disarm the factory alarm without unlocking the doors.  *4 There is pink wire for each of the 4 doors. Use all of them and diode isolate. All four wires can also be found at the central electronic module under the driver side dash in three separate plugs.  *5 Also found pink at the central electronic module.  *6 In a white plug behind the driver side taillight.  *7 This wire is rated at 10 amps only. If installing any system with high current outputs, go to battery for 12v.

Is up to the installer to test all wires with a DMM whenever possible.

For sure, they can afford to go to a shop, so let someone else deal with the headache.

Bnluis it sounds as though to me that you dont like work. How hard is it to energize a relay for key sense? Second, I havent heard of a 555U being sensitive to the vehicle being started prior. Maybe you should revisit the basics? Running a power wire to the battery for constant...what a noble concept and a way to make more money on your installs? If you explain why it costs more and sell yourself then it should all be uphill for you from there. Prost, Mel
