viper 5701 alarm w/ remote start

I'm having trouble with figuring out what alot of the wires on the this system do...

I'm not new to installing alarms... but this is the most complicated system i've attempted to install.. I've never done a remote start system.. I've mainly installed the cheap and simple autopage and code alarm units..

FYI, I'm installing this system on a 1996 Inifiniti G20

Any way, on to what i'm having trouble with:

WHITE/ Brown - Flex parking light relay 87A

White - Parking Light OutputDo i need to use one or both of these wires? Which one do i use?

WHITE/ Blue - Remote Start Activation

Do i need to use this? In the instructions it says: This input comes from the factory set to 1 activation pulsethat its necessary to have a single ground pulse on this wire for the remote start to activate or to deactivate. This wire can also be used to activate the Turbo Timer mode when the car is running and this wire receives ground. On the wiring diagram its labeled as "remote start activation" but in the manual its labeled "remote start turbo timer (-) activation input.

All of these wires are on a 10 pin Heavy Gauge Connector:

Pink - (+) Ignition 1 Input/Output

I'm assuming I connect this wire to the ignition wire in the steering column

RED / White - (+) 30a fused Ignition 2 / flex relay, pin 87, input

This wire is the polarity feed for the ignition 2 / flex relayI have no idea what this is....

Orange - Accessory  output.

Connect this wire to the accessory wire that powers the climate control system.I don't understand why the alarm system needs anything from the climate control system.. what is this and why??? Do i need to just connect it to the Accessory Wire in the Ignition Switch??

Red - 30amp fused Ignition 1 relay input

Polarity Feed for Ignition 1 Relay.I'm assuming this is just going to be the constant 12v source that i can pull out of the steering column and or battery.

Pink/ White - Ignition 2 Flex Relay output

This wire is factory programmed as Ignition 2 and can be programmed as a 2nd accessory or 2nd starterDo i need this at all???

Pink/Black - 87a of Ignition 2/Flex Relay

This wire is used when an ignition switch isolation on the vehicle is necessary.Once again, Do i need this at all??RED / Black - 30a fused accessory/starter relay inputThis wire is the polarity feed to the accessory and starter relaysWhat does this connect to?

What is the difference between Ignition 1 and Ignition 2?

What is a "flex relay"?

Okay...... this is what wizes me off about DEI. It is a professional product, that is meant to be professionally installed. A lot of the terminology in the install manual makes perfect sense to people that do this on a daily basis as a source of income. A lot of the terminology used in the manual has confused the DIY crowd it appears, as there have been SEVERAL posts that seem to have great concern over the onboard SPST 5 wire relay that is programmable to do any one of 3 things- Accessory, starter, or ignition. If the car has a second ignition, accessory, or starter, then this is what it is for. It has a normally closed terminal because it can be a starter kill, or it can be used to isolate the key from the car during start (Nissan, some Toyotas for example). Do you need the remote start activation? I dunno, are you using something like a 556T timer? Or a pushbutton starter? Flex parking light is just like the other flex relay..... see above. You are getting both the 87 and 87a terminals of the relay. Use at your discretion as to the vehicle it is going in. Wouldn't the 12V industry be just screwed without the internet???? Oh, wait, it existed long before, when we used to just figure these things out.......... /End rant.... going for a run, then taking my meds......Wherever I go, that is where I end up......

If I have a turbo on my vehicle where should I connect that remote start activation input.  The diagram indicates it going to an optional switch.. I just need to know where this connects.. Thanks

without intiating a rant (sorry, emil   lol)     if you dont have a sniff what the bulk of the wires do or where they go, you really shouldn't be tackling this yourself......Kevin Gerry
