Put in a DEI rs unit. The issue I am having is it will not crank. The everything powers up and it thinks it is running but it just wont crank. I used a 1700G bypass and I think this may be the issue. I did notice on the dash where the odometer is ERROR came up.

Any help would be great.

Thank you

Jeremy

Jer, the Rendezvous is a basic Chevy vehicle much like the Venture, Montana & Silhouette. YELLOW is the starter at the ignition switch and can use the 1700G or 457GW to bypass the PASS-Key III, but it will not control the door locks on this model year.
Does the vehicle start with the key ? If so, make sure that the connections on the bypass module are correct and then double check that you have the 2nd IGN attached as well on the DEI unit to the vehicle.

Hey Jeff,

Here is the weird thing, I have the 1st, 2nd, and third ignitions hooked up, the brown acc wire, and the starter wire, I put the meter on the starter wire and hit the remote start, it showed 12 volts brefly then stopped, and no crank. I did notice that there were 2 yellow wires in the harness but one did not meter as the starter wire. I did pull the 12V from a couple of heavy AWG wires in the access panel in the center console by the BCM rather than going directly to the battery. Think this could be a reason? Door locks work fine, horn ECT.. When I do remote start it all the gauges come on, the radio pops on, the heater controls pop on and stay on as the car is running. I just get no crank.

I am lost at this point in time. Not sure if the unit is defective or not.

you do voltage checking on the unit? if not and you're using tach, did you learn tach? which RS model is it? did you cut the vehicles starter wire and then connect a DEI green wire to one side and a purple wire to the other side? if so, then make sure you put the green on the key side and the purple on the starter side. you're sure the 1700g programmed correctly?

Its a valet 562T I think., It is on voltage check, Yes the starter wire was cut and the green and purple were attached correctly. On the 1700 I used the 2 pink wires and attached them as they should. I programmed and saw the 3 quick flashes that it learned.

One of the things that boggles me is if it was the bypass, the car should still crank but not turn over (please correct me if I am wrong). The 12 volts is on the starter wire when if tries to cranck but I get nothing out of it which leads me to belive that it is the bypass,

Or it could be a defective DEI unit which I have yet to see.

well  I am back at it again with this car. Quick rundown, Valet 561T and a 1700G learning bypass. Everything works but the remote start. everythin powers up ok but it will not crank. I have tried everything, the yellow start wire has been cut to put in grren wire to ign side and the purple wire to the starter side.  when i remote start the unit i see the 12 volts present on the yellow wire but there is no crank. I took a fused lead and tapped it to the yellow wire and still no engine crank. i triple checked all the connections, the bypass showed a learned ect.. i have run out of things to try. Is there a factory alarm that prevents the engine from cranking? Could it be a defective unit? I am lost and need your help big... the one thing that gets me is the starter wire, why when a dirct 12 volts on this wire, still will not crank the engine?? One thing i forgot to mention is when I remote start and everything powers up i get ERROR on the odometer.

Thnk you for your help.

Jer

On this vehicle, the pink & dark green have to remain HOT on run & crank in order to get the starter to work.

So it looks as if the unit is bad/defective. Would it be possable it is the sattlite realy or most likely the brain itself? anyway going to have to swap them both.

Thank you,

Jeremy

Before you do that you could check and make sure that the pink/white from the 561T is programmed as an ignition and not an accessory.
