2003 impala keyless entry

I am installing a keyless entry system in an 03 impala it has a one wire lock system, an according to any diagram I can find needs a 470 ohm resistor to lock the doors. I have hit a road block I can get the doors to unlock but not lock, am I missing a step? I really dont have exterience with resistors, Is it possible to have different 470ohm resistors? I know these are probably simple questions but im absolutly stumped and would really appreaciate any all guidance you all can give me.

I actually did try a 470 inline resistor with no luck thats what confusses me. I dont know if when I went to get the resistor from the electronics store if they sold me one that doesent work with automotive electircal. when you order the resistor is it just 470ohm thats it or is there anything else that one should specify?

I will definatly try that I had in fact been going to the ORANGE / black wire at the bcm, Just so I am 100% attach the resistor to the white wire then to a ground at the switch, does it stay there perminatly? where does the other feed from the keyless entry system ( the lock wire ) attach ? the orange /black at the bcm or the white on the door.

When doing a  relay to ground does it install inline from the keyless unit to the wire at the bcm? and what should one ask for at the electronics store for type of relay.
