hello installers out there. i need some assistant with an alarm/remote start alarm system. i am trying to get the viper 5701 remote start feature to work on a 2008 nissan 350z. when i go to hit the remote start button the "f" button lights & buzzes and the alarm does nothing.
i haven't installed one of these newer systems before and i need help. everything else on the alarm works except the remote start. i have the xpresskit dlpk interface connected and that all seems fine. can anyone verify what wires from h/3 harness go to what and which ones aren't needed.
i know this car has a second starter that needs to be connected, no second ing. so, help me out guy!

Is the car au automatic or manual? Is the remote start programmed for automatic or manual? Have you connected the neutral safety input wire to anything?

The 2008 350Z is an automatic, and the neural safety switch is grounded. I didn't check to see if it was programed for auto trans. I didn't know it came default for manual. That might be one reason why it's not working. Can you also verity the H3 harness too.

They come programmed for manual. You need to switch that.
I'm too lazy to look up the tech sheet, but most Nissans have 1 ignition, 2 starters, and 1 or 2 accessory wires.
H3
1 Pink              ->   Ignition of car
2 RED / white   ->   Constant wire in car
3 Orange        ->   Accessory 1 of car
4 Violet          ->    Starter side of main starter wire
5 Green        ->   Key side of main starter wire
6 Red             ->   Constant wire in car
7 Pink/white   -> Starter side of 2nd starter wire in car
8 Pink/black   ->   Key side of 2nd starter wire
9 RED / black    ->   Constant wire in car
Make sure you go into the programming menu and change the output of the flex relay to "Starter 2"
If there is a 2nd accessory wire in the car that needs to be connected (most Nissans don't need it, even though DEI puts it on their tech sheets) then I would add a relay for it and trigger the relay with the orange (-) acc output in the 5-pin aux output harness.

Sorry to bring back an almost year old thread. I'm diy'ing a Python 991 on my '07 G35 coupe (should be exactly the same as a 350z.) and needed some clairifcation. After reading JWorm's post, is it safe for me to assume that I can directly hook up #7 Pink/White and #8 Pink/Black to the 2nd starter without a relay (for some reason, I can't grasp the function of a relay)? That's not the same as combining 1st starter and 2nd started and connecting both to #4 & 5, is it?

Sorry, you can NOT post a reply.
