Here 's the deal. I installed a Viper 5701 using DLPKCHG2 on a 2005 Dodge Dakota. The vehicle had a factory alarm with Sentry Key. After installation everything worked fine-door lock/unlock, factory arm/disarm, and remote start. The issue is when I armed/locked the vehicle with the Viper and then remote started the vehicle, it would set the factory alarm off but continued to run. I tried a different bypass and the same thing happened. Any suggestions why this keeps happening?

its because the bypass probably is not disarming the alarm. i do believe the factory alarm on that truck disarms with the factory remote only.

I understand that the bypass is not disarming the alarm. That's not the issue. The question is WHY isn't the truck cooperating? And according to Directechs and xpresskit, the bypass arms and disarms the factory alarm.

does the truck have a factory alarm disarm wire? ive done one of these but it didn't have a factory security system. if it does have this wire you need to connect that wire to the factory alarm disarm wire from the remotestarter and maybe check the program menu to see if there is a menu option for you to be able to use this wire.

No factory disarm wire, that would have been my first choice, trust me! According to Directechs, the vehicle will arm with lock, and disarm with ignition and Sentry Key-if my memory serves me correctly. Finally after having the truck in a few times, I went right to the kick panel for lock/unlock and did away with the bypass controlling locks and factory alarm since the lock switch in the door did not arm the factory alarm. I am just at a loss why the vehicle would not disarm during remote start.

i would think that you have a timing issue as in the vehicle is seeing the ignition before its seeing the bypass

try unplugging the loop stick a key in the ignition and then try it

also try getting in the truck set the alarm then start it with the key does it disarm?

if it does its a timing issue

also did you miss a ign or acc

I know that all ignition & accessory wires were connected. I did try removing the antenna loop and just use the key in ignition also. I have never done so much troubleshooting in my life! I had it back 4 times, but the customer could only leave it for an hour each time.

if you are going off of directechs tech sheet i would make sure you didn't miss an ignition. i did one of these and use directechs and everything worked fine but i had all kinds of problems because there was a wire that wasn't mentioned in the tech sheet. maybe that unmentioned wire also is tied to the disarm circuit for the factory alarm somehow. with that said, i have no idea if this is right or wrong, you could have everything wired perfectly, i dont know, this is just what im thinking because dodge trucks are stupid like that.
