I just installed a Viper 5901 and set it up for driver's priority unlock. Is it possible to set up the alarm, bitwriter or otherwise, so that a 2nd unlock within so many seconds doesn't cause an additional unlock chirp? I would like it so that the 1st unlock causes a chirp and the 2nd unlock (within a few seconds) just unlocks the remaining doors without chirping again.

You could possibly use a relay to disable the siren output while the 2nd unlock is active.  You may need a timer to cover the whole pulse.

Maybe you can explain the difference, but I'm not using the H2/6 2nd unlock wire. I second unlock signal to the same vehicle unlock wire solves progressive door unlocking. Is there any reason or advantage to using the 2nd unlock output? However, using that wire to trigger a relay to interrupt the siren is interesting.

Yes. It does not chirp on activation. Hence, the fix to your issue. If you would have kindly included your Year/Make/Model vehicle, that would have been better understood by everyone. Your vehicle is using single-wire double-pulse for progressive unlock (DDU).

Now that we have your vehicle information, I don't believe you are producing progressive unlock, as designed by the Viper 5901? You need to connect the 2nd unlock output. Do you have a factory alarm?

However, I may be in-correct, regarding the siren chirp upon a 2nd remote unlock. In this case, you could use the 2nd unlock output to dis-able the siren and there may be a timing issue to over come, as KPierson stated.

This is my first vehicle that had progressive unlocking. It was my understanding that the 2nd unlock wire on the alarm was for vehicles that use a separate wire to unlock the remaining three doors. I mistakenly thought that it was unneeded in my case since my vehicle uses a single wire for unlocking all doors.
I changed the alarm to use progressive unlocking and tied the 2nd unlock wire on the alarm in with the main unlock wire and it functions properly.

Kevin,

I have the same problem on my Toyota Tundra.  So i just put both wires together and set the alarm to progressive unlocking and it will take care of this then?
