5900 problems

I installed a Viper 5900 in my 96 Caprice (no VATS), but I didnt opt to use the remote start.

So any ways, I installed it and took my time, however in the supplied manual there are a couple misprints when it comes to wiring. I believe one states that the blue wire in the 12 pin harness is the trunk, while another page says its the multi-plex input.

Well I finished my install and have a couple issues, which may be me or the manual either of which I dont care who is right I just want my alarm to work.

1. The LED doesnt go off when the car is turned on. I have moved the pink wire in the ribbon harness a couple times with no fix. I have it wired to the pink wire just under the steering column.

2. The alarm sets its self off only in the day time. At night I have no issues, so I'm willing to bet its the proximity detector. I was wanting to change it to another zone, but have a hard time understanding the way to do it.

3. The locking function doesnt work. I have the color wire but I had two other to choose from, so does it matter which one if they are all locking wires?

Thats all I can think of at the moment :)

Let's star with the first problem, that pink wire from the ribbon, must be connected to a true ignition wire and plugged into the control module and not the xcrs, have you verified that the wire you have it connected to is a true ignition wire?

What do you mean it sets itself off, are you talking passive arming? clarify

I'll check the locks an get back to you!

Wait, i made a mistake, it's not the pink wire that has to be connected from the ribbon, it's the yellow wire that you need to connect to the ignition.That pink is the trigger wire for the ignition in the xcrs.

On a lighter note, when i read your post heading i thought briefly to myself, that's alot of problems, LOL,5900 problems -- posted image.

I have the pink wire from the ribbon harness connected to the pink wire under the dash going to the ignition. IIRC thats what the manual suggested. I'm thinking this might cure my blinking LED too!
Not to sound stupid, but what is the xcrs?
When I have the alarm set in the day time, the alarm will randomly set its self off. However, at night I can set it and it will not go off unless you go near the car (prox detector). I believe the issue to be due to the location of the prox detector and the heat...
I know I'm going to sound like a novice, but what wires do I connect to each of my sensors? I have prox, tilt, shock and glass.

The xcrs is the box with the heavy gayge remote start wires! I will help you with the sensors later! Gotta get to work!

In any car there is typically only ONE actual correct wire but can be a multitude of wires of the same color.  So, if the tech sheet says the wire is green in the drivers kick panel (I just made that up) that doesn't mean that EVERY green wire in the drivers kick panel will be the correct wire.  What I'm saying is if you have three wires to choose from you MUST verify with a volt meter before connecting to any of them.  If you connected the door lock output to the wrong wire you could have damaged the unit or the car.

As far as your false alarms I hate to say it but you have too many sensors to make  troubleshooting easy.  If you think it is the prox sensor disconnect the prox sensor for a few days and see if the problem goes away.  If it does then you'll need to adjust the sensitivity of the unit.  If it doesn't, disconnect another sensor and see if that makes it go away (and on and on and on).
