I've installed this unit a little over 3 yrs ago, it's worked great up until this past spring. With my wifes remote, it got to the point that every time she tried starting the car remotely, it seemed to make an attempt to crank over but then stop, it would do this a few times. Then for at least 7-10 minutes you couldn't restart the car even with the key.
Then we noticed that my remote wouldn't do this so we figured something was wrong with her remote so we stopped using it. For the past 1-2 months with my remote it worked flawlessly but just in the past week including this morning, it's now doing the same thing.
Could it be a sign that the remote batteries are going bad or could it be more serious and it's the unit itself?
Any help/guidance would be great!

When you are unable to start the car with the key, does a theft light or something similar flash or show up on the dash?
Does it start with a key in the ignition in the off position pointing to a possible bypass failure?
Do you notice a trend with temperature?

Why not replace the batteries and see if that fixes it? 3 years is a long time for the batteries to last. If it doesn't, try re-programming tach.

Reprogram the tach and see if this helps.

Thnx for all the replies, will try the batteries first then reprogramming the tach if that doesn't help.
awd- I don't get any flashing lights but I do on a very rare occasion notice the theft light stay on but iirc, it's not necessarily when this problem occurs.

The problem you describe seems to indicate you have a problem with the Passlock system. I would have the module that interfaces with the Passlock system checked. The connections could be bad or it may need recalibrating or repalced. If it happens again, try starting it with the key. If it cranks, but won't start, leave the key in the ON position and look at the instrumnet cluster. The Passlock icon light will likey be flashing. Leave the key ON until it stops flashing. Then turn it off and start the truck with the key. Then get the Passlock bypass looked at.
