Ok...after being out of the installation ring for a minute, I need to get up to speed on whats out there now. I have been dicking around with a box of DEI systems that I got from a used car lot. I have learned alot about the different models. I am however disappointed in the what seems to be a standard 7 or so tone alarm that sounds like a loud assed video game. Does anyone manufacture an alarm that just has 1 sound? Or say you have a Siren Horn with those Multi-tones, and theres one you like to use, and just that tone only....are there any siren horns where you can say "Ok...I want Tone #3 to work Exclusively Solo from the rest 100% of the time" ??. Every siren I've hooked up has that 7 or 8 tone changing sound...I just want 1 tone to use that I choose... What are my options? Names? I love the classic Viper Chirp. That with the LAST, and 1st tone of these cheapies. (Buzzer sound, and the regular Police siren up down sinewave sound)
Tones I like:
Police siren sound
Descending tone
Polizi or Euro Police tone
Buzzer sound.
I hate that one sound like its ascending up like a donky kong video game

If the siren you have is the 514n the sounds can be changed to the order and tones you prefer!

so you can choose any (1) tone, or a couple and just use those tones alone instead of all of them?

So how can this be done? Thru the alarm brain? I noticed a black looped wire on the siren, what is this looped wire for?
thanks

Doing it is a bit tricky! You have to open the siren, when you get the guts out you will notice six jumpers labelled one through six these are the six tones, to delete you can cut the jumpers and leave the ones you want, to re-arrange, you will have to cut the jumpers and bridge accordingly to the order you would like! The black loop restores the confirmation chirps to full loudness!

Ok...I got it. The jumpers on the inside of the alarm, J1 thru J6 correspond to the Tones in the order that they are presented. Just remove the jumper to the tone you want to delete. I see a Dip switch in my future.

The jumpers are inside the siren. As per T&T's post

Had i not read it here, I would have told somebody they were crazy if they told me this could be done.  We do not sell DEI products, but we do sell alarms with the multi-toned sirens.  Do you know if others have this ability, or is it a DEI exclusive?

not sure, but I have wondered about this for years!!! Everyones car alarm sounds the same IMO in the area I live in. Not much crime but loud stereos and vibration can turn an apartment complex into a Siren Hell!! 10 cars blarring the same 6 tones but at different times. I don't live in an apt but I have heard this happen at a couple of pool parties. Distinction is the key. Know your tones if you don't have a 2way to kno for sure. Thanks TT.

You can also bridge the jumpers differently to re-arrange to tones, like connect the output side of jumper six to jumper one and so on! So the six tones play but in a different order! But again it is a bit tricky!
