2007 f250 viper 5701

   I am just about wrapped up on installing a Viper 5901 into a 2006 F250 diesel that has a remote keyless entry and I would bet that the similarities between the 07 and 06 F250 are few.  A couple of lessons that I learned:

I originally wired the alarm into the individual door triggers (its a 4-door SuperCab) and used diodes so that the Vehicle Security Module would not get a signal on the driver's door when the passenger door was opened (as an example).  The problem I ran into, though, is that the vehicle indicates 12v on the door ajar wire when a door is opened, but only for about 5 seconds and then it goes back to 0.  Same thing happens when you close the door.  The alarm kept thinking that a door was open and I needed to reprogram one of the menu options, which requires you to open a door and follow a few steps to get it into programming mode.  Well, after those 5 seconds elapsed, the alarm sees 0 volts on the door ajar wire and exits the programming menu.  Frustrating.  I followed just about every other installers advice and simply wired the door ajar trigger to the dome wire.  All works fine now.

Presently I am using two external relays.  One to provide power to the dome light when the alarm is disarmed and the other to wake up the GEM.  I have a document that I pulled from this website that shows how to wire that relay. 

I have spent hours combing through numerous posts on this forum to get the answers I needed and my installation went very well.  Even with the Viper installation manual, it was a bit difficult to understand how some of the features work and so I understand the frustration you may be experiencing.  I also have the complete Ford factory service manual with complete wiring diagrams and such, which is a big bonus.  I'd be happy to help you out and send a few electronic documents that I have saved.  Feel free to send me a private message and I can give you my direct e-mail address and phone number for direct correspondence.
