key pad issues

my keypad is not working on my 2000 mercury sable i know i have the right code and it doesnt light up to all the numbers like after the third digit it will light up?? i use it about once a year and now it dont work? any ideas or possible fixes??

Does it not light up at all, or do only certain numbers not light up? If it doesn't light up at all, then maybe it's a blown fuze?

only to certain numbers and it dosnt lock when u push the 7/8 9/0 or whichever it is but they do light up and dome light come on

if you remove the door panel then remove the key pad assy   you will most likely find corrision in the pad   very common in ford / mercury cars
you can replace the pad assy

you may be able to take the pad apart and check the connections from the buttons to the board ive never done it   ive always replaced the pad assy
