How do you wire this little box up?

I have a used DEI-456L and I can not figure out how to wire it up and program it. I can only find information that say it is easier than relays, I guess if you have the wiring and instructions on it. I have the truck wiring but I need the 456L wiring.

I understand the bascis like power, ground, and door lock wire but there is an extra wire that has a conector on it and I do not know where it goes or if it is needed to make the unit work.

Also I keep reading the relays are needed to stop the feedback from the locks. Would it not be easier and quicker to use diodes?
