I have a 2004 Avalanche I will be installing a remote starter in this weekend. The starter is a Viper 5301. I also ordered a DEI DLPKGM bypass (flashed w/ the latest software) and a GM 12 T harness which will hopefully keep the splicing to a minimum.
I've installed remote starters in several other vehicles with no issues other than taking some time to do as I don't do them for a living.
I've searched the forum here and many installers state that he GMT800 platform is among their favorite for remote starter installs. I'm curious why this is? Does the bypass module make the install easier? Is it the accessibility of wires/BCM? Or, is it just that there are millions of these trucks on the road and installers have done so many of them they are so familiar with them they can do them very quickly?
I've read through the threads on this great forum but any tips/tricks anyone would care to add would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

All of the above. As for tips, I'll give two of mine. I prewire the r/s on the bench and leave the bypass wires as long as possible hooking them to the r/s harness. I then put the bypass module over the fusebox on the drivers side for easy access at a later date.   I put the r/s brain in the area between the fusebox and the steel plate. The brain slides in (a little tight but that keeps there). I also run the acc and 2nd ignition straight up from there and over to the wires that come from the sterring harness. It will all make sense once you take the truck apart
