I am installing a Viper 5301 remote start & SmartStart iPhone module on a 2011 Sonata 2.0T with Smart key. I will be using DB-All-401.Hyundai V1.01 to bypass the proximity key and factory alarm. I am assuming the tech sheet info should be the same from the 2.4l motor to the 2.0 Turbo.
My question is this, I would like to use only the Smartstart module to remote start from a distance. That's why I am using the 5301 so I can have the benefit of the 2 way communication. I would like to know if I can still be able to open the doors with the factory FOB while the car is running on remote start? Or will the car see the ignition signal and prevent the factory FOB from working? I would also like to configure it the start on 3 lock pluses so if I like I can start with the factory FOB, doing this will the Smartstart also need to send 3 pulses??
Thanks for you help.

If the OEM FOB normally doesn't work with the ignition ON, then it will not work with the remote start either. It's like the Honda's and some Dodge's.

I haven't done any of these cars but I've read the install guides.
Factory remote does not work during remote start. You'll want to connect the unlock output from the remote starter.

Agreed, your only choices are to either use a key to get in or carry an aftermarket remote...

I was going to use the SmartStart iPhone module to open the vehicle when I used the remote start. and when remote start is not used I will use the proximity key.

Not familiar with the Smartstart, is it an instant thing? I am just wondering how long it takes and how much you need to do to activate it. Anything longer than 5 seconds and it would drive me crazy...

Mine is right around 5 seconds for the app to open then another 5 seconds for the doors to unlock after hitting the button. If the customer is in and out of his car all day this is not a great option. If they are only using it two or three times a day it's probably o.k. Depends on what you'll deal with to not have to carry a remote.

A neat idea for the RS, but you gotta admit using it to unlock is just too long.

Yeah, but I really only use the remote start first thing in the morning and when I leave work, so I can deal with the 5 second delay before the doors open.
