2007 altima 4dr w/ intellikey rem start

The Vehicle: 2007 Nissan Altima 4 door sedan with IntelliKey (Push button start, Key just has to be within the vehicle.) The install requirements: 1.) Retain the OE Key fob as the sole controller for the car. (Do not want two remotes dangling off the key ring. Factory security is sufficient.) 2.) Not giving up a key for the bypass module. (eg: DEI 1101T... Leaving an RF key in the vehicle just seems stupid, plus adds to the cost of the install in the form of the new fob and dealership programming.) I'm not MECP certified by any means, but I have the factory service manual for the car, so dismantling the car and routing wiring is not an issue. I am a radio telecommunications technician so I understand the need for diode isolation, know how to solder, etc. I also am fairly experienced with cars doing most of my own work at home including engine rebuilds and modifying ECU wiring harnesses. I need help selecting a product to use for this installation. All installations I've seen use an aftermarket security system with a remote start function and they're wired through a transponder bypass. I do not need the extra security system when the vehicle is equipped with one from the factory. I also don't want the second key fob. Originally, I was looking at the iDataLink Blade series: http://store.idatalink.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=70 The install guide makes it look like it's an all in one solution; a remote starter with transponder bypass all in one unit. However, the product page says it's a transponder bypass cartridge that fits into a compatible remote starter... So I'm back at square 1.

Use the ADS-DL-SL-CA2 from Idatalink. It works well and will give you the RS plus bypass the immobilizer. You can install the AVOX AS9076N or the Avital 4003L(which is a DEI product), either will work off your factory remote. The Idatalink unit will allow the factory remotes to work while the car is running, so you can enter the car, press the brake and push the start button for a continous run(some new Idata units won't do this). I've done a half dozen of these cars and they work well, but it is a hard install. Be sure you follow the Idata instructions exactly. The BCM has anti-theft screws making it impossible to get out without a special tool. I leave it in, remove the cluster and wire it thru there. You can lay on the floor and reach the BCM plugs to unplug them and pull them thru to the cluster area. The entire installation takes place on these plugs. You can wire just about any remote starter to use your factory key fob so it's just a matter of preference as far as that goes. There are several bypass modules that will work for your vehicle. Check out www.xpresskit.com or www.idatalink.com for the different options. The blade would require the use of a compatible remote start. The rest of them are universal and will work with any brand .

Most of the cars that come through our shop have the Idata modules in them.

The iDatalink Blade series is meant to be plugged into a Compustar CM5x00 and CM6x00 series.  The Blade AL and the CM6200 would work great but would require an ADS USB cable to flash the correct firmware onto the Blade AL module and update and the CM6200 and configure its' options.

The better option would be a Fortin bypass like the CAN-SL2 and any quality "add-on" remote start system.  Here is a link to the Fortin bypass :  https://ifar.ca/download/2267/can-sl2_nissan_altima_-_automatic_transmission_(2007-2010).rev-m.pdf   The Fortin install guide is very informative and complete.   The CAN-SL2 comes preloaded with the correct firmware.   The iDatalink ADS-DLSL CA2 is a good choice also.  It will work with any brand remote start and comes preloaded with the correct firmware. 

Soldering is fun!

Most name-brand manufacturers have a remote starter that can work off the factory remotes. You just push some of the buttons on the factory remote in a certain sequence, and the car starts. However, the range will be exactly the same as what you have now. Can you lock and unlock the car's doors from inside your house? You could get something like an Avital 4113 and have it both ways.....you can configure it to activate off the factory remote, but it also comes with small one-button remotes you can carry when you think you'll need the extra range. Another option, if you have the money, would be to put in the 4113 as mentioned above, and add the Viper Smart Start to start it from your cell phone. DEI makes another unit just like the 4113 but the remotes aren't included at all....it costs a little less.
