Hi,
I'm looking at installing a remote start on my '05 Murano with intellikey. Probably an Ultrastart U1272-pro and use the 556u bypass.
What I would like to do though is use my factory key fob instead of the ultrastart remote. For example, pressing the lock button 3 times starts the car and pressing it 3 times again stops the car.
Is there a way I can program the remote start to use my factory key fob?
Thanks,
Brandon

only certain remote starts have that (activation input) that are fully customizable. most i have seen operate with one pulse.

i know the compustar can be programmed for 1-3 pulses to start/shutdown.

Ok, so from what I've read in other threads to do this is I connect the activation input to the door lock and then change the programming so that 3 pulses active the remote start.
Thus, when I hit the "lock" button of my oem remote 3 times, it pulses the activation input 3 times and starts the car.
Correct?
If so, the downside to this is hitting the lock button on the oem remote honks the horn. So the horn would honk 3 times when starting the car.

yes,
and you are also limited by the range of the factory remote.

You will need to make sure the polarity is correct. Since the lock motor wire is a positive your RS will need to activate from a positive. The DEI RS units are selectable from either pos. or neg. If yours is not you will need to use a relay to do this....

Also, try holding the lock and unlock buttons down on the remote for 3 seconds. This should delete the horn honk...

Yeah, gonna sacrifice range for this. Since the Murano has the intellikey, we don't want to get rid of the remote and we don't want to carry two remotes.

Ah, good point. I'll look at getting a DEI RS unit instead then.
Is the AVITAL 4113L a good unit? Since I already have keyless entry, I don't need that functionality in an RS.
i am an idiot

You really need to check to see if your vehicles keyless will work with the engine running.  Most of them do not.  With your window rolled down, start the vehicle and see if the unlock button will work on the remote.  This may be something to think about.

i believe he's ok on that vehicle. might be an idea for a database though..with more car models placing the keyless entry remote with the key itself.

Yes i agree, Nissans work with the car running. Most Nissans also disarm the factory alarm just with ignition connected making them much easier. We use the Avital 4003L, not sure what the difference is from the 4113L.

2 starter wires, don't forget a relay....
