Hey, I'm looking at wiring in some floor lights that'll turn on when the door is open, but I don't know where the correct wire to tap into would be. I'm going to throw in my own simple toggle switch somewhere encase I need to turn off the floor lighting at some point for whatever reason, too. That part should be no trouble as long as I can find the wire.
Any help would be great. I've got all the repair manuals for my car, but it only tells me what to check if the light were to go out, not exactly what color the wire is below the dash.

Use the wire going to the dome light that goes to negative from open circuit when any door is opened.

I do want to use that wire, but is there a better way of finding it than taking out the ceiling and tracing the wire back down to the dashboard? there is a dome fuse in one of the dash fuse boxes, i just don't know the colors that i'd need to find behind it

You should be able to pick uo a trigger wire in the driver's floor panel, the wire at the fuse box that is fused would be live at all times, you can use this for the positive side of the lights, however you would need the door trigger to supply the ground.
