Ok, so I just installed a Viper Responder 350 in my truck, 1998 Ram 1500 with factory keyless entry. Everything works perfect except for the power unlock. I wired up with the CHRYSLER 3/5 wire Door Locking Relay System, unlock is a 5 wire relay, and lock is a 3 wire relay. I split the unlock in the driver's kick panel. I am wondering if the split between switch/motor needs to be in the driver door? Literally between the switch and motor? I would totally appreciate any insight on this before I start backtracking. Thanks alot!!!!

Make sure you connected the "split" wire ends correctly, may be reversed?

Keyless models use positive trigger for lock, and 5-wire for unlock. You can also find the wires at the central timer module to the right side of the steering column, lock is ORANGE / green, unlock is pink/green.

Use a meter and make sure you are getting +12V on the motor side of the unlock wire when you press unlock on the remote. Normally if a 5-wire lock system is wired backwards the fuse where you're getting power for your relay blows instantly.

Ok I did a bit of testing and when I arm the alarm the doors lock. Here is the kicker, when I disarm, the doors lock too....LOL I dont get it. The relays are wired correctly......have done hundreds over the years. But nevertheless, I rechecked the relay wiring and it is correct. Should I try 3 wire on the unlock? Or, physically go deeper in the door and split the connection between the motor and switch?

You can try it. I had the same thing happen on a 99 Dakota but I don't remember which way it was. It was one or the other so I'm guessing it might be 3 wire since you already tried 5 wire.

Got it figured out. If you connect the unlock wires in the driver kick panel harness it wont work, you have to go in the door and connect between the switch and motor (pink wire/purple stripe).
