Hey,
Purchased a car with an aftermarket alarm system. Can't find a manual on it so I'm sort of lost! The system works except for the central locking. Aftermarket actuators are installed and it has a negative lock/ positive lock output and a negative unlock/positive unlock output. It seems one of the outputs is reading a constant earth no matter if I press the arm and disarm buttons on the fob. The other door lock output reads 12v and pulses to negative when I press arm and disarm!
Shouldn't both lock outputs read 12v and pulse either lock or unlock depending on whether I'm arming or disarming?

your alarm is pulsing negative to the riggers on the lock relay or relays.
Two separate relays or a dedicated timer relay?
Disconnect the "faulty" wire and see if it still sits on neg;
answer yes, faulty alarm;
answer no it's the relays

Thanks for your advise. Output triggers (separate) straight to door relay. Even if I have no wire connected to the lock output I get a negative reading. If I trigger the arm on the fob I get a tiny reading but can't confirm what it is as I broke my multimeter yesterday!
If I was the buy another alarm (different model) would it be as simple as hooking up the current wiring to the new module and add whatever negative triggers the new module needs on top?
Thanks

Is the negative reading on the alarm? Use a test light if no meter.

Hey,
Nah it's not reading any voltage when triggered or not. It reads ground only. I did however tried getting s better reading with the meter I had and when I had the meter on 200ma I got a tiny reading and the output went up slightly when I pressed the arm button.
If the reading is meant to be the same as the unlock wire, it's not.
I tried hooking up a relay to the tiny lock output but it could not even activate the relay coil. That aside the pulse should trigger a negative pulse.
I have hooked up the locking output to my trunk output and it locks when I trigger the trunk function.

Bit off topic I'm looking at purchasing a clamp digital volt meter. The clamp function work any good?
They are all over eBay but from china? Fake items?
Thanks
