Sorry for the long 1st post. I am having an issue with the remote start using a new remote.
I have a 2004 Ford Expedition with a Clifford 50.5x that was installed by a car audio installer. The remote that I had from the original install has been flakey lately with the unlock button working intermittently unless I take the remote apart and press the switch on the board.
I went to the installer and they did not have any in stock and the price they gave me was considerably more than what I had seen online so I just ordered one online.
I received the new remote today and programmed it using the instructions found on the back of the package. The remote works fine for the Lock, Unlock, and Hatch release. When I press the * key twice the car will start and then almost immediately shutdown, it will do this 3 times, sometimes not even starting on the 2nd and 3rd times. I followed the instructions in the manual to determine why and I am getting a Low or no RPM error.
I tried again leaving my key in the ignition and get the same thing. My old remote starts the car fine however.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Ben

When the system was programmed, they probably used a Bitwriter, and when they wrote the programming to the system, they probably only save the programming information into slot #1.  Your remote was added to the system into slot #2 (theres 4 transmitter slots/locations) and the programming isnt correct for your vehicle in that slot.

When programming with the Bitwriter, I save my information to slot ZERO, and that puts the information into all 4 locations.   Ask your installing dealer to program the correct vehicle programming into ALL 4 locations.  That should fix your problem.  :)

Thanks. I just stopped by the dealer and he change setting 3-2 using the valet button to check for the voltage rather than the tach in general for remote start and that resolved the issue.
