2004 mazda 3 remote start

I'm installing a remote start in my gf Mazda 3 with manual transmission. Any ideas for a simple one button manual tranny remote start? Also, how the heck do you access behind the dash? It seems to be all one piece.......

I'm pretty sure Compustar units are all manual-transmission capable, and they have a one-button remote option. The lower dash doesn't come down on that car. You'd pretty much just take off the steering column cover, and run your ignition wires up there to the area behind the ignition switch and connect them...........depending on how/what you're installing, that's where you'd probably choose to get your negative parking lights and the horn wire. The driver's kick panel will have a bundle of wires running to the rear of the car. There you'll find brake, doorlocks (if you're doing locks), and I'm not sure but maybe you can find the door triggers in there. I've only done a couple of those cars, but I'm pretty sure that you can unsnap the hood release handle from where it is, and there's a hidden screw behind it. Then you can actually pop off the left side of the underdash and kind of just let it hang there. But there's another non-removeable panel behind it anyway. Basically all it's going to really do for you is let a little more light in...I don't think it's going to help too much. If you decide to do this, make sure the car's interior is warm so the panel is flexible and won't crack when you move it.

I did the latest version of the Mazda 3 recently and noticed the panel by the driver's knee could not be removed, which is really new to me, lol, i ended up doing it all on the opposite side of the car, actually got everything i needed there.commit your way to jehovah and he will act in your behalf. psalms 37:5

the panel does come off.. hidden screw behind the hood release, and the panel comes off with a little effort.
