Hello all, new to this site but through reading some post it is very interesting and informative. So I have a question regarding factory remote starts and I am not sure where else to post in this forum.
Q1 - I have a 2014 Dodge Charger R/T with factory remote start. I would like to know if there is such a module or the likes thereof that would allow me to remote start my vehicle using a droid or iPhone app even if it came with a monthly subscription but it would need to work with existing factory system???

theres a few different brands of products you can use. If it were me I would use a idatalink ads-al-ca with a t-harness and a drone mobile

There's nothing on the market that'll trigger the factory remote starter in the car. I find it very frustrating that the manufacturers don't do anything for this.
That being said, like blanx218 mentioned, you don't need a complete remote starter---just one of the databus interface modules, and a phone device that's compatible with it.
Google the following:
Compustar Drone
Audiovox Car Connection Pro
Viper or Directed Electronics Smart Start
What you will find is that all of these devices vary wildly in price, but also there's a great variation in how much (if any) service is included, and how much the service costs after that.
For example, the new Car Connection Pro is somewhat on the less-expensive side (around $199 retail), but does not include any service. They only have one type of service plan----$10/month or $89/year. It includes all kinds of stuff like tracking the car's location by GPS, notification if the driver is speeding or leaves a certain area......but the problem is that you have to pay for all that stuff whether you want it or not.
Sorry I don't know a little more about the other systems, but you get the idea. Don't look at just the cost of the product, but also what it will cost to use it.
There are also lots of very confusing compatibility issues, so be sure to buy all the pieces from the same seller. For example, the Car Connection Pro is made to work with the Flashlogic FLCAN (which is a rebadged iDatalink ALCA), and the Viper unit is made to work with the DBALL.

If 2014 is same as 2013 a dball with rxt firmware paired with a smart start will do this and only require 4 wires all hooked up at the obdii connector

Well first thanks to all of you for providing this information. I was getting worried that this forum was dead.
So as I understand (or perhaps pretend to), there is a possibility that I can integrate a system or interface a module that would be compatible or work with the OEM system?
I am actually considering replacing the stock OEM head unit as soon as I can get support from the Maestro RR interface or similar. But I think the smartphone integration is a must as long as I am dropping that much money on a replacement control system.
I have emailed the companies mentioned and am awaiting response. Just so you know there is a fairly big community of Dodge Charger owners wanting this feature as we are crippled by the Chrysler company with a system that was entirely catered to Apple products. Also the fact that the Challenger and Dodge Grand Caravan was supported from the factory with smartphone integration did not leave a good taste being that the average 2014 Dodge Charger came with a $40k+ sticker price you would have thought they would have included this.
Thanks again for your response and if you think of other companies other companies to ask I would appreciate it if you can pass that along. I am working with a group of new Dodge Charger Owners who are trying to figure out a way of doing this...
Thanks Willy

At least you're not stuck with ford's sync system, have had crippling issues with those. Also, VSM50BT/DSM50BT should allow you to (un)lock/aux/remote start a vehicle via Bluetooth WITHOUT a subscription, but does not work via wifi or a mobile network. I am not sure of other companies offerings.

Well it was a short trail to nowhere. After calling a few of the vendors posted here they all shrugged. It appears that the only way to do what I am asking is to install an aftermarket Remote Start but there the buck stopped short as well because none could tell me how exactly does an aftermarket remote start play nice with a factory remote start system.
Almost all of them advised I talk to an installer so I did. Got the shrug again. The installer said it couldn't be done. By the way these were classified super installers for Viper and Python. None of which these 2 brands I can contact a technical person to speak with them.
So my hunt continues...

I am not 100% on the '13 to '14 differences but I think they are. I am in SE Wisconsin. Basically Milwaukee...
