I had a 554R valet system with a 530t window module in a 95 full size blazer and liked the system but in this 99 2 door tahoe I am thinking I don't need all the bells and whistles. I would like to have another 530T for my windows, but don't have to have it hooked to the alarm. I am looking for a decent alarm with door pin and shock sensor. I also have a valet remote start that I could use so I would only have to spent the money on a 530T and the alarm. Wondering what system I should get. I know I could use the remote start I have with my factory remote, but I like having the extra distance with remote alarm remotes.

I was looking around in the truck today and it looks like someone may have had a remote start or alarm in the vehicle before. I have 3 keys that came with the truck and none of them look to be a factory key. If I am not mistaken this vehicle has Passlock II in it. I was wondering what I would look for if some one has permanently bypassed the passlock. Should there be a black box under the dash somewhere or just a resistor?

From the column there's a harness with a small yellow wire which is the passlock 2 wire. See what's connected to it and trace it back. You'll either find a module of some sort or a pair of relays. If not you might find the wire cut with a resistor between the car side of the yellow wire and the black or ORANGE / black from the same harness. If that's what you see then they permanently bypassed it
