compustar cm7200 brain

Hi, Thinking about installing this brain with ADS-Blade-AL on 2008 Acura MDX. When I look at the CM7200 diagram, there were two ignition harnesses. One for high current, the other for low current. Which one do I need to use? Is there a rules to decide which is for what vehicle?

You will use the high current harness for that vehicle.  ( The main +12V constant supply wire at the ignition is rated at 50 Amps.)  There is no chart to use to help you decide, just your eyeballs looking at the vehicles ignition harness.  Soldering is fun!

As usual, Kreg is first with the right answer. This vehicle isn't hard to do at all. total of 9 wires and you're done. 4x ignition 2x data/immobilizer 1x parking light (-) 1x ground 1x power liftgate (-) optional to make it neat, bundle 4ign,2data,1parking light together and run those up to the steering column. ground in your kick panel to BARE METAL factory bolt preferred as most would say here. last is the power liftgate. this will require a relay to close 2 wires in at the fuse box, hence the optional. the only time you want to use low current is if the vehicle is a push to start OR electronic based ignition such as tip start on domestics. Although, this is true 90+ % of the time, the best way to determine is by looking at the gauge if ignition wires. for example the 2014-2015 pts rdx although PTS, the computer uses high current inputs, compared to toyota pts all wires are super thin gauge.Ted

Yes I am. I was in automotive electronics for a while as a hobby prior to pursuing medicine. Good thing I only have a few years left to becoming fully licensed and certified as an Emergency Trauma surgeon.Ted

Ted, as a young high school student, learned to solder with the guidance of the 12 Volt!    No tuition or student loans needed. Soldering is fun!

Hi, Very good. Been HAM radio operator since 1955. Still doing SMT soldering at age 74. Always tinkering. Daughter is in rural medicine. Qualified to perform light surgeries like appendix, Caesarean operations. Hope all the parts I ordered is waiting for me when I get back from quick trip South to Belize.

Had to borrow from the "parental loan" to buy solder, wires and a weller pyropen. Now i use a Mac Tools ST115. and yes...I paid them back years later....Interest free ! hahaTed
