I have an Avantguard 5.1 installed in a 1998 TJ Jeep w/ keyless entry and after market actuators. The alarm has built in relays. The Door actuators work together, so both doors lock and unlock at the same time with the key fob and Ignition. I would like to install a momentary switch to manually lock and unlock the doors. the Avantguard 5.1 is set to ignition lock/unlock. I want to keep this feature but would like to also manually lock and unlock w/switch. The arm/disarm triggers 12v+ to the Door Actuators via the GREEN/ black (lock) or the blue/black (unlock) alarm wires. At Rest the wires show ground. I have searched the forums looking for answers but have found nothing that explains how I can install a momentary switch with the Avantguard 5.1 system with built in relays. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Ken

You would either need to momentary switches plus two relays or a single SPAL type 5 terminal electric window switch. I'll do you a diagram by breakfast your time.

Can't be done with a single momentary but a SPAL dedicated lock or window switch is effectively two momentary switches.

So can I use a DPDT Momentary switch? I want to control both doors with one switch. Thanks again. Get some sleep.

Yes exactly, SPAL or cheaper via say Farnell, Mouser etc.
DPDT centre off momentary.

Look at this, Farnell round rocker BUT you'll have to check to see if momentary.
Or this one definitely momentary.
RA-901-M-B-B-0-B
Both are under $3, SPDT, on-off-on (centre off).
Note you only need an SPDT switch.

Good Morning Howie. I have seen the round switches. Is the diagram you sent the way I should hook up the switch to make the doors lock and unlock? No diodes? No Relays? What about a 12v+ source to activate actuator? The way it is right now both legs, Blue/Black and GREEN/ Black wires go to ground at rest and receive 12v+ trigger when activated by ignition or arm/disarm on key fob. The diagram shows the switch going to ground so don't I need 12v+ trigger source momentarily to activate actuators? Thanks Ken

Sorry I was under the impression that Jeep used NEG triggers.
If POS (+) just feed the switch with a 3 amp fused 12V+ constant supply instead of ground as in the diagram.
How have you wired your locks?
Something you didn't explain too well.
A) Purple and PURPLE / black to 12V+
BROWN / black and WHITE/ black not used.
GREEN/ black and blue/black to vehicle.
OR
B) Purple and PURPLE / black to 12V+
BROWN / black and WHITE/ black to ground.
GREEN/ black and blue/black to vehicle.

Sorry about the confusion. The alarm is an aftermarket not a Jeep OEM. I have wired it the same as Your B Scenario. So with that in mind should I put 12v+ Fused constant in the center of the momentary switch? Also should I use diodes on the GREEN/ black and Blue/black wires from the alarm to protect the alarm? We have wired the alarm per the instructions in the Installation Guide from Clifford for Avantguard 5.1. (Using type D: After Market Actuators schematic). I really appreciate the time and effort you have put into this. Thank you very much. Ken
