So a month ago I had a viper 5706 installed WITHOUT a hood pin, it worked flawlessly for the first month, well about a week ago i would start it on the fob but then i would arrive at the car and it not be on (radio on but not the ignition) so i would hit it again and then it worked, well now today it says error. Overtime I lock the vehicle it notifies me the hood is open but its not and there is no hood pin. Everything else works but the remote start. I will hit it and it will beep 6 times at me and on the key fob say hood pin. I unplugged the hood pin which is capped together and it still gives me that error. Anyone else know what can be done. Im 300 miles away from where I installed it so I am trying to get it done to save me a trip. Only new thing about it is I programed a new key with a new transponder but even after a 2 weeks or so it still worked till today. I went to rest the dball2 but even that doesn't light up. it doesn't flash red or anything. I called the installed and he said to get it bit written to over ride the hood pin. Is that the best course of action? anyone know how much it will cost me? I don't like when things don't work right.

If the DBALL2 is using D2D data mode then it's probably a fault with the bypass as hood pin is done thru data from vehicle. Try resetting the bypass by pulling the D2D power and data cable (4 Pin plug connected between the DBALL2 and Alarm) then plug it back in to see if it clears up temporarily.

I tried that but its impossible to tell if I reset it correctly since the Dball2 isn't lighting up. I took out the data link, pressed and held the button, installed the data link while holding and the Dball2 didn't flash red or orange or anything at all. I know when I installed it, it flashed and worked. Im not sure if the Dball went bad or what.

If it won't do a module reset then a hard reset is next.
This is the install guide that you will need to reset and reprogram it.
DBALL2 Install
Once you reset it you will need to reprogram it to vehicle. If you hard reset it you will need to set it back up from scratch and then program it to vehicle again.
If it won't do either reset then replace it.

Perfect I can't wait to try this tomorrow, if I hard reset and according to the beautiful document you set forth, it says it will revert the flashed firmware, does that mean I have to reflash the bypass with the jeep settings or it reverts back to the jeep settings that was originally flashed?

IT means that it will be at the default Jeep settings. Any Programmed D2D settings that were selected in the VIP flash pages prior to Flashing could be lost and would need to be reelected and re-flashed with the xkloader2.
If you didn't select or change any of these (Default Options) in the VIP Web interface prior to flashing with the xkloader2 then you don't need to worry about that. But you can make any of these settings changes needed after flashing for you setup. These options are on page 22 of the install that I linked to.

Thank you, my friend had the xkloader so I will just wait till it go back to michigan next month. What would cause this? I am going data to data but nothing changed except I programmed a new transponder key and stopped using the factory remote key.

If you can get it to reset either way then you will need to follow the programming instructions to program the vehicle back to the DBALL2 ,you don't need the xkloader2 to get it working for the bypass, convenience, and vehicle detection. Only if you want it pre-configured for the heated seats and any other non default options. If it won't reset either way then re-flashing the firmware is the next step. Then attempt to program back to vehicle. If that fails then replace it.
Just make sure you follow the programming for you specific vehicle when programming it to the vehicle again after reset!
I'm in the mitt myself bay city to be exact.
Depends on the vehicle and how it stores and orders the transponders in data. If the order changed with the new key, it can cause issues when the DBALL2 is imitating the programmed key transponder as they will be slightly different in data.
